Southend Sports Awards 2017 - Nominations open!

Published: Tuesday, 3rd October 2017

Southend is very proud of its active and sporting community and the schools, clubs and individuals within it. So much so, that we hold the annual Southend Sports Awards.

Dedicated local sportspeople and sporting achievements are set to be recognised again this year, as we launch our search for those sporting successes over the past 12 months.

The awards are a way of recognising achievements of local athletes, clubs, schools, and those involved in sport at all levels, who either live in Southend or who attend clubs or schools within the borough. All ages welcome.

The awards are part of the borough's 125 year anniversary.

The awards are split into seven categories, including:

  • Community Hero
  • Coach of the Year
  • Club of the Year
  • Olympic Hopeful
  • Paralympic Hopeful
  • Sports Personality of the Year
  • Young Sports Personality of the Year

Each category is up for grabs!

The deadline for nominations is Sunday 22nd October at 11.59pm.

In each category there will be a winner and a runner up. Those candidates who are shortlisted for an award will be contacted by Thursday 26th October 2017 and invited to the awards ceremony, which will take place during the evening in November. Date and venue to be confirmed.

As the categories suggest, the event celebrates and recognises the best community and school sport within the borough, the people who participate, support its provision and invest in its ongoing development.

These awards have the added benefit, as those who are shortlisted for an award are also transferred into the Essex Sports Awards.
